"Let the guessing game and rumors cease," said a statement Wednesday afternoon on Canyons’ Facebook page. "Get stoked!"
Nine chairlifts (of 19) will be fired up Friday morning, the statement said, including the new Orange Bubble Express (with its heated seats), which will rise up from the reconfigured village base.
Delays in getting that lift into place — and moving the base load-up facility for the Red Pine gondola — last month forced resort officials to push back the opening date, to the chagrin of a number of season-pass holders.
Canyons General Manager Mike Goar responded with an offer of two day passes they could use as they chose and asked for patience as crews rushed to assemble all of the pieces of the expansion, which the Talisker-owned resort describes only as costing "tens of millions of dollars."
A mix of comments greeted Wednesday’s confirmation that Canyons would make the Dec. 10 opening date predicted when the delay first was announced Nov. 19 as early-season snow was hitting the slopes.
"About time," Spencer Bertrand wrote on Facebook.
"Yeahhhh!!! Can’t wait!," cheered Kelley McKone Epstein.
